Mountain biking is among the superb variety of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed locally along with breathtakingly beautiful walks in the Cambrian Mountains and the Cader Idris whilst the Dyfi Valley the only UNESCO biosphere in Wales is the unique lovely setting for several RSPB and nature reserves.<br/><br/>Aberdyfi (20 miles) boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain with four miles of golden sand-dune backed shoreline running north to Tywyn. The beaches are favourites with sunbathers swimmers surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts who will find sailing sailboarding rowing canoeing and boat trips are all popular here. Golf lovers are also well catered for – beside the dunes lies a championship links golf course.<br/><br/>Also on the coast the university town of Aberystwyth (24 miles) is well worth a visit and there are many historic market towns to discover and explore – both Dolgellau and Machynlleth (9 miles) offer an excellent selection of shops pubs and restaurants.
